Get Involved

MoDD Africa is as much about people and networks as it is about models. Here is how to take part.

Capacity

Training and capacity building

A core aim of the project is to build a lasting network of African modellers, with capacity building embedded in how the project works day to day:

  • At each hub — learning by doing, on real decision problems.
  • Across hubs — teams working jointly and sharing methods.
  • Across the ecosystem — knowledge sharing and cross-learning with partners and programmes.

Hands-on training runs across the hubs in Tanzania, the DRC and Nigeria, pairing early-career researchers with experienced modellers.

Open challenges

Hackathons and modelling competitions

The network runs hackathons and modelling competitions — open challenges that grow skills, surface new approaches, and connect modellers across countries and disciplines.

Community

A Community of Practice

MoDD Africa contributes to a regional Community of Practice (CoP) in vector epidemiology and modelling, a space to share methods, data and lessons and to keep the ecosystem connected as it grows.

Programmes

For national malaria programmes

We work directly with National Malaria Programmes to make sure models answer the questions that matter for control and elimination — and that the outputs are usable where decisions are made.
